HILITECH Celebrates 10 Years of Composite Innovation and 100 Days of the New Fiber Composite Technician Program
Ten years ago, in 2014, HILITECH began its success story as a joint venture between F/LIST and the Hintsteiner Group. Since then, the company has had a lasting impact on the aviation industry with its ultra-light cabin systems and composite components. This year, HILITECH is not only celebrating its tenth anniversary, but also looking back on 100 successful days of the new apprenticeship programme for fibre composite technicians. The company group is proud of its 70 years of experience in apprentice training. Several hundred apprentices in eight different professions have been supported and successfully trained along the way.
While many industries are under pressure and cutting jobs, the aviation industry is booming. Demand for qualified specialists is growing rapidly, and HILITECH is responding to this challenge by focusing on training and promoting young talent, as well as introducing technological innovations. The practice-oriented apprenticeship to become a fibre composite technician, based on 10 years of company experience and knowledge, has been successfully offered for 100 days. This course provides young talents with the opportunity to develop their skills within the aviation and lightweight construction industries, preparing them for future challenges in these dynamic sectors.
"Our successes over the last ten years are the result of innovative strength and commitment to the highest quality," notes Manfred Nagl, CEO of HILITECH.
The anniversary is also an opportunity to reflect on the significant milestones of recent years.
The company established a foundation for long-term success from the very beginning.
Just one year after its foundation in 2015, it secured a significant framework contract, setting the stage for future growth by strategically combining the materials and aviation expertise of its partner companies. This enabled the development and implementation of innovative manufacturing processes for lightweight components in the aviation industry.
The company's innovative strength is also evident in its technological advances. By investing in a high-tech composite press in 2024, HILITECH set new standards in manufacturing technology. This innovation improves the efficiency and precision of production processes, enabling the company to respond more flexibly to the requirements of international aviation markets.
A new job profile for the future has been created
Following the successful completion of the last Model Maker apprenticeship in 2024, the forward-looking job profile of Fibre Composite Technician was developed in close cooperation with the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO) and leading industrial companies. The three-year apprenticeship combines theory with practical training, covering topics such as the fundamentals of fibre composite technology, manufacturing processes, and process management. HILITECH incorporates the highest aviation certification standards (ISO 9001 and EN 9100) directly into the course content. Alongside the new technical apprenticeship, the company also offers an apprenticeship for office administrators.
Over the past 100 days, the first apprentice has learned important fundamentals and honed his practical skills in handling fibre composite materials and manufacturing techniques. His progress demonstrates the importance of practical training for success in the industry.
"We believe in promoting young talent and investing in our employees' training to shape tomorrow's technologies. We've just got started," Nagl concluded with a wink.
